Summer Program 2012
Academy of Music and Dramatic Arts Summer Program
SPAC will debut a summer program taught by J.J. Lewis-Nichols for acting, directing, playwriting, and singing for Broadway which may lead to year-round classes. The purpose of this program is to instruct children, teens, an adults who are serious about learning their craft.
Tuesdays at SPAC are for kids 7-13 years from 1-4:30pm; ages 14-adults from 6:30-10pm. Thursdays will be at Ft. Jones City Hall (times are the same). Each age group can attend 2 classes per week.
A preliminary meeting will be held on Saturday, April 28 at 1pm at SPAC to sign up for all who are interested in both age groups. Acting will include Shakespeare and the infamous ‘triggers.’ ‘Singing for Broadway’ includes correct breathing and ‘acting the song in character.’
These classes are free. Ages 7-10 need to be accompanied by an adult. J.J. has a BFA degree in ‘Acting’ from NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts. She appeared twice on Broadway, and in national tours, film, Soaps, and TV commercials from 1969-1981.
